THE SURGE EXPERIENCE IS BASED ON
EMS TECHNOLOGY
What is EMS?
EMS stands for Electro Muscular Stimulation. During the workout, all your major muscle groups are brought into controlled contractions, using our EMS technology. This means that we can deliver the most effective EMS workout, in just 20 minutes. Sports scientists have been harnessing the power of EMS since the 1960s to deliver highly beneficial results that can be difficult to achieve with conventional training methods.
How does an EMS workout function?
Before every session, your personal trainer will help you to put on our Miha EMS equipment. This comprises an EMS electrode vest, along with additional electrodes targeting your arms, legs and glutes.
During the EMS workout, you will work alongside industry-leading personal trainers, who will combine the use of general training principles and the functioning of the EMS device, to incorporate a transfer of sport and exercise-specific movements.
The EMS device increases the speed of muscular contractions which is difficult to trigger voluntarily, by sending electrical impulses from the device to your muscles via the electrodes. These impulses mimic the natural messages sent by your brain to your muscles, and causes them to contract simultaneously.
What’s it used for?
EMS is a training methodology that has been clinically proven to be both safe and effective. Our members come to us for a variety of reasons, including weight loss, toning up, strength endurance, improved mobility and for the relief of pain. EMS is widely used across different fields, from elite-level sports, to physiotherapy and medical applications.
What are the benefits of an EMS workout?
As the EMS device activates all of your major muscle groups, for the entirety of each 20-minute session, we can deliver the most effective workout possible in a very short period.
In addition, an EMS workout can activate your muscles without the use of weights or other equipment, which means that we avoid putting stress on joints and ligaments and therefore reduce the risk of injury.
The EMS electrodes are positioned parallel on opposite sides of the body for equal training, as opposed to localised methods of conventional training which can overtrain or disbalance muscles.
Who is suitable for an EMS workout?
Because each EMS workout is tailored to each member, Surge can accommodate members of all ages, body types and fitness levels.
Our members include professional athletes representing the UK on the world stage, who are looking to find incremental performance gains, through to those who work at a desk and are looking for a convenient way to get in shape without taking up too much of their valuable time.
Technology and devices
