The month of love

Valentine’s day is traditionally known for being the day of romance between you and your other half. Buying chocolates, flowers and teddies to show your love. However, valentine’s day doesn’t just have to be about couples, it can be showing love for anyone close to you including the most important person which is yourself. Valentine’s day comes around once a year but why not have this love all year round? Making yourself and the people around you feel loved every day.

Self-love is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. Fitness can change how you feel about yourself and your daily life. Exercise has many physiological benefits on the brain that affect you mentally and physically. When exercising neurotransmitters are released, all having a positive effect. Serotonin is also released to improve our mood. When Dopamine is released it can help improve learning and focus. Norepinephrine can improve our attention spans and improve motivation, finally endorphins reduce the feeling of pain and anxiety. Exercise also helps us have more consistent sleep and improvements in cardiovascular health, reduced risks of disease, helps us manage weight and increase the strength of bones, muscles and overall just increases our quality and longevity of life.

There isn’t anything better we can do to love and look after ourselves. Feeling better in ourselves means we are more capable of achieving what we want in life as well as loving the people around us. Fitness connects us, we can go to the gym with someone, share a goal, have competition with someone, reconnect with someone, or just connect with someone new. Having a friend to exercise with increases the likely hood of adhering to exercise, and achieving goals as well as during exercise it’s more likely that people will increase the intensity they exercise with compared to when they are alone.

It’s also been shown that exercising with a romantic partner increases the effort put into exercising as well as feeling more satisfied in that relationship. Even if you don’t have a romantic partner it doesn’t matter. At surge, there will also be a personal trainer with you at all times encouraging you to reach your goals and push you to the best of your ability during a session.

It is scientifically proven that having someone supervising exercise (like a personal trainer) is more beneficial to the client than it is when exercising alone. There are improvements in motivation, exercise adherence and self-confidence. All of which we strive for at surge.
At surge, you can achieve all these things. by booking a double session, you can train with anyone you love. You can push each other to reach goals, you can have competition with each other and grow stronger together. 20 minutes to come together to just catch up or as a fun activity to do this valentine’s day. However, if you come and train individually you will be met with our friendly welcoming personal trainers who will motivate you for the full 20 minute session.

Why not share the love this valentine’s day as well? If you are a member and you refer us to someone close to you, you can both receive 2 complimentary sessions if they sign up.
